Even as wax figures have become a synonym of Madame Tussauds across the world, a wax museum has been set up in Asansol city of West Bengal by an Indian artiste. The country's first wax museum, which has 19 statues of famous personalities on the lines of the world-famous Madame Tussauds, was inaugurated in Kolkata. The Mother's Wax Museum, which was thrown open to the public by Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and has statues of Nobel laureate Rabindranath Tagore and film star Amitabh Bachchan, has been set up in the satellite township of Rajarhat New Town. The museum features life-like wax figures of icons and celebrities.
All of the wax figures have been created by Susanta Ray, a veteran wax sculptor. Schulpture Susanta Ray started his new Wax Museum in Goa City with 15 various Wax Statue, hope fully opening on August 2016. Work have been started.
